Who we are

TripsGuru ("TripsGuru", "we") is a travel agency based in Kenya. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. We process personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

What we collect

Depending on how you use our services, we collect:

• Trip enquiries: your name, email address, phone number, destination, travel dates, number and type of travellers, and any preferences you share.
• Flight bookings: passenger names, dates of birth, gender, contact details and, where the airline requires it, passport details; plus booking and payment status.
• Newsletter sign-ups: your name, email address and marketing consent.
• Chat messages you send through the website chat widget.
• Website usage: pages viewed, clicks, device and browser information, approximate location, and how you arrived at our site (for example, ad campaign parameters).

How we use it

We use your personal data to:

• plan and quote the trips you ask about, and contact you about them;
• book, ticket and manage flights and other travel services on your behalf;
• process payments and send booking confirmations and service messages;
• send travel inspiration you have agreed to receive (you can unsubscribe at any time);
• measure and improve our website and advertising.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only as needed to provide our services, with providers who process it on our behalf or who deliver the travel you book:

• Airlines, hotels and ground operators, and the flight reservation system we book through, to deliver your trip.
• Our payment provider, to take payment.
• Our content and customer-relationship systems, email delivery provider and website chat provider, to store your enquiry and communicate with you.
• Analytics and advertising providers (Google, Meta and PostHog), to understand how our site is used and measure our ads.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising measurement, and to remember which campaign brought you to our site for up to 90 days. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work, but we may not be able to attribute your enquiry to the ad you saw.

International transfers

Some of our providers store or process data outside Kenya. Where this happens we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above, including to meet legal, accounting and airline requirements, and then delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

You have the right to be informed about, access, correct and request deletion of your personal data, to object to its processing (including for direct marketing), and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You can also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Kenya.
